Filling Colour Using Swatches
Open the Swatches Palette and choose the object and pick any colour from the swatches.

Filling Colour Using Colour Picker
Another way is to double click on the Fill in the Tool Palette. A Colour Picker window will appear and you can pick the colour you prefer.

Change Fill and Stroke Using Control Palette
One more way is to access the Control palette to easily change fill, stroke colour and stroke width.

Stroke Caps
The Stroke Caps determine the start and end points of a stroke. This applies to open paths only. You can choose between a Butt, Round, or Projecting cap.

Miter Limit
The stroke’s Miter Limit specifies the appearance for the joins in a shape. Look at the different miter settings of the stars.

Applying Gradient to Objects
For applying gradient to your object, go to the Tool Palette and set it to Gradient Fill.

Open the Gradient and Colour Palette. By default it is Grayscale gradient. Click Options icon at the corner and change it to RGB mode.
After we have switched to RGB there will be slider and a colour chart to pick the colour. Select a green.

For the start point too, change to RGB and select a yellow.

Click right below the gradient ramp to create a new stop for the gradient. Change the colour to white. To remove it, you can drag the stop out of the Palette.

To change the direction of the gradient, choose the Gradient Tool from the Tool Palette. Click and drag in the direction you want the gradient to follow.

Radial Gradient
To set it to radial gradient, select Radial instead of Linear.

Pattern Fill
Select the pattern fill from the Swatches to create seamless pattern fill.

Radial and linear gradient can add depth and volume to circle, and linear pattern can used to create volume for cylinders.
